Taiyū-in Reibyō Kōkamon
This gate at the entrance to the Taiyū-in Reibyō Oku-in was built in 1653. The Koukamon gate acts as an entrance to the Okunoin (Inner House) where Tokugawa Iemitsu is buried. Though the Okunoin is not open to the public, it is still worth a visit. The gate is built in an architectural style that can be traced back to the Ming Dynasty (China). The magnificent white wall is unlike anything else you will see in the Nikko - Rinnō-ji area.
